GRATITUDE

GRATITUDE (Reading: Lk. 17: 17-18)
Ten desperate people came to Christ and were cured by him. Yet only one of them came back to thank him. Just imagine, ten lepers had been cured of the most dreaded disease of all – leprosy. Only one of them returned to give thanks, that too a foreigner, the despised Samaritan. So he asks in today’s Gospel: “Where are the other nine? Someone has made a list of nine suggested reasons why the nine did not return:
1.      One waited to see if the cure was real.
2.      One waited to see if it would last.
3.      One said he would see Jesus later.
4.      One decided that he had never had leprosy in the first place.
5.      One said he would have gotten well anyway.
6.      One gave the glory to the priests.
7.      One said, “O, well, Jesus didn’t really do anything.”
8.      One said, “Any rabbi could have done it.”
9.      One said, “I was already much improved.”

MEANING OF EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY, NATURE AND SCOPE

What is Psychology?
It’s the scientific study of the human mind and its function,The word, ‘Psychology’ is derived from two Greek words, ‘Psyche’ and ‘Logos’. Psyche means ‘soul’ and ‘Logos’ means ‘science’., Psychology was initially defined as the ‘science of soul”.
- According to earlier psychologists, the purpose of psychology was to study the nature, origin and destiny of the human soul. But soul is something metaphysical. It cannot be seen, observed and touched and we cannot make scientific experiments on soul.
- In the 18th century, psychology was understood as the ‘Science of Mind’. William James (1892) defined psychology as the science of mental processes. But the word ‘mind ‘ is also quite ambiguous as there was confusion regarding the nature and functions of mind.

I can't afford a babysitter, Woman strangles baby to death

A woman by name Titilayo Odedele who is 20-year-old, Titilayo Odedele, has told an Ebute Meta Magistrate's Court that why she strangled her two year old child Opeyemi  was because, because she could not afford a babysitter for him.

The incident was said to have happened at Ajagunro, Imota Ikorodu area of Lagos.

The defendant, who was arraigned on one count of murder, said she had no one to help her take care of the child after she was impregnated and thrown out of her parent's home.

Addressing the court in tears, she said, "I only finished Primary six, and I did not attend secondary school before I was impregnated.

"On that Friday night, I attended a vigil and wanted to drop the child there and run away, but didn't know what to do.

"On Saturday morning, I left the place and wrapped him up in a cloth. When I saw that nobody was with us, I put my hand on his neck and started to squeeze it till he died."

The magistrate, O.O Olatunji, who was shocked by the defendant's action, said she could have left the baby in the church for people to take, instead of killing him.

He asked, "How did you get him killed?
Was he not crying each time you pressed his neck?"

She replied, "Each time I squeezed his neck, he cried, but I just kept
pressing till he died. I don't know what entered into me."

It was learnt that Oladele lost her mother at an early age, and her
father got married to another woman. The accused was said to have been
sent out of the house soon afterwards.

The investigating police officer, Fatai Popoola, in a remand request, indicated that Odedele was arrested the day after the incident on the road.

He said she had also made confessional statements to the police.

The murder charge read, "That you, Titilayo Oladele, on November 16, 2013 at Ajagunro, Imota Ikorodu, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did unlawfully kill one Opeyemi Ibrahim, aged two years, by strangulating him to death with your hands and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria 2011."

The defendant's plea was not taken, as she also did not have any legal representation or family member in court.

The police prosecutor, Cyriacus Osuji, applied for her remand pursuant to Section 264 of the Administration of Criminal Justice, Lagos State 2011.

The magistrate granted the remand request and ordered her to be put in prison pending the Directorate of Public Prosecution advice. The case was adjourned till February 3, 2014 for mention.

Pastor Kumuyi says Christmas is idolatrous, urges members not to celebrate

                                         Pastor Kumuyi
The General Overseer of The Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor W.F Kumuyi on Saturday Dec 21st during their annual National December Convention warned his church members against celebrating Christmas, according to him it is idolatrous and unscriptural.

Pastor Kumuy said "We don't celebrate Christmas. It actually came from idolatrous background. That is why you don't hear us sing what they call Christmas carol, Never! We always say it is the December retreat. We are only gathering together because it is the holiday period and love the lord more, and rededicate ourselves more.

"When you find anybody coming in, or any leader, trying to introduce the idolatry of mystery Babylon, that they call Christmas and you want to bring all the Christmas carol saying that is the day that Jesus was born, and you don't find that in the Acts of the Apostles or in the early church, then you don't find that in the church either. If you don't know that before, now you know,"

PHOTO: Ugandan MPs pass life imprisonment anti-gay bill

Uganda's parliament has passed a bill to toughen the punishment for homosexual acts to include life imprisonment in some cases.

The anti-homosexuality bill also makes it a crime punishable by a prison sentence not to report gay people.

The bill drew wide condemnation when it was first introduced in 2010 and initially included the
death penalty, but that was removed from the revised version passed by parliament.

The law passed on Friday sets life imprisonment as the penalty for gay sex involving an HIV-infected person, acts with minors and the disabled, as well as repeated sex offenses among consenting adults, according to the office of a spokeswoman for Uganda's parliament.

"Now anybody found practising, recruiting for or publicising homosexuality commits a felony," said Simon Lokodo, Uganda's Minister of State for
Ethics and Integrity.

He added that the law provided for punishments of between two years and life behind bars.

"We will get hold of all those encouraging others to become homosexuals or lesbians. Anybody we find recruiting or using materials to promote homosexuality, we will arrest."

For the bill to be enacted it must be signed by President Yoweri Museveni.

Read this; what exactly is music? Do you take music as ordinary sound? NO!

You can’t be saying music is ordinary without knowing fully what music is all about.  People think music is all about listening to radio or playing sounds from their devices, No! That’s not true; music is more than what we hear. Music can cool the mental state of mind; it makes you happy and can also boost your brain.
Music is emotional and attractive, for example; a day I was going to my friend’s house that is beside a barbing saloon, as I was approaching to divert to my friend’s house, I heard one of the Celine Dion’s songs “broken heart”, I paused! i imagined if such song could  be coming out from Ash Dot’s saloon, I felt attracted not just thinking where the music could be waving out from, I was attracted by the lovely song it’s self.
Secondly I felt it would be nice to go in the saloon despite the fact I never needed a haircut. My head was calmed by the music that I nearly picked up my phone to call my ex. Lol. I sat and listened but nobody knew why I came there, although my hair is grown; someone could easily guess i would need a haircut. Surprisingly the tract finished and changed to another title of music call “Ebezina” by Late Osadebe, I quickly stood up and realized I was lost for some minutes and walked quickly to my friends house “Uzochukwu” which I was about going before I was short brain-dead lol.

Read: Are You About Loosing Hope? Avoid Non-Motivating Factors Towards Your Talent, Nollywood Reviled

Motivation is a psychological feature that arouses an organism to act towards a desired goal and elicits, controls, and sustains certain goal-directed behaviors. This article is not written just to tell you about Motivation like you already know, but it’s exposing you to what talent is: for instance taking acting as a case study in line with Nollywood .

You all Nollywood should be a place of reviled talents from individuals of deferent homes. Do you know what talent is? Yes, talent is the potential ability one got either acquired/developed or from birth (follow come, lol). It’s always from the help of some social groups in the person’s origin for example, Church Drama Groups, Departmental Drama Groups and others.
But now what do we see? Nollywood now, is made a place of fame finding and Nudity zone, talented people are left behind to waste while non potential and non talented individuals are being chosen to make a Caricature of their selves and not you and i. Making pornographies is now the “what’s up” as they tag it and forgetting what is called for. We the audience can’t do or change anything but to sit and watch, Let me inform us, we can put a stop to this>You can stop buying such movies and go for more interesting Nollywood movies to watch and not wasting money and time watching crap as if we are here for moon light games.

What do you do when you come across such movie?
I know you will be bold enough to tell friends anytime he/she wants to buy such movies, hey dude; this movie isn’t what you think or how the title sounds, previously when I watched I regretted wasting my time and money, maybe you want to know how I felt?

Do you feel disappointed when you realize you just wasted your money on such movie?
Yes, of course you do. For instance, the day I watched “forbidden fruit” I was mad at what I saw. It would be very nice if it was titled “f**k me hard” to create awareness of what was about happening than giving it  more historical or encouraging name like the literal words I read from Late Chinua Achebe’s books.
Secondly I want to attach an article I read from Linda Ikeji’s blog , she stated how nollywood recently has became a money making arena for the directors and producers.

Nowadays talent is hidden, Maybe you do not know this; in light of recent events, personally I have found out that our nollywood directors collect money from people to fix them in to feature in the movies, okay!, see it this way; what about these people who just got talents but no finance? What are they going to do? Obviously talent is hidden like I mentioned. Who is left to answer the above question? I am not panicking; we are not asking God to help us. It is you who can help solve this problem because some day in the future you will find yourself in that position. What are you going to do? Would you change something? If yes, our youths could be liberated. Don’t be obstacles to someone’s talent, God forbids this.
Lastly I urge you to continue with what you do best, speak what you do well and don’t forget to let people know you are good at what you do, it’s not just boast (ITK) its bragging rights.

Three years ago, Senator Ahmed Yerima married a 14 year old Egyptian girl named Marian, which caused massive criticism from Nigerians.
The former Zamfara state governor and serving senator of the federal republic of Nigeria, Sen. Ahmed Yerima, has even made matters worse now as he has reportedly divorced her to marry another 15 year old.
City People reports that Yerima and four men, said to be members of the Zamfara State House of Assembly were in Egypt a few weeks ago for the wedding fathia of a new bride said to be 15 years old.
Marian who is now 17 and a mother of one, is believed to be the daughter of the former governor’s driver whenever he visits Egypt.
Sources say that Yerima divorced her to enable him take a new wife as he’s not allowed more than four wives.
The Senator is alleged to have married and divorced a few women in the last few years but has never changed his first three wives, only the fourth ones.
Sen. Ahmed Yerima this year was strongly pushing for the deletion of the section of the 1999 constitution which pegged the official marriage age in Nigeria as 18 years, saying it was anti-Islam. continue here

When your marriage is falling apart, should you stay or should you go?

When your marriage is falling apart, should you stay or should you go?
When a marriage is falling apart, should you stay or should you go?
Will life be better alone, even if that means single motherhood? Or is every marriage worth sticking with, however troubled?
This is the subject of a new book being written by two women who have faced this question themselves and come to entirely different conclusions. So who do you agree with?

Taking ur time to read this post by Lauren will never not be a waste .

This time last year, my husband Craig and I nearly split up. We've been married for seven years, but together for almost 20, and we have two daughters, Alex, seven, and Holly, five.
It seemed that everything had become a row. It had got to the stage where one of us would say "good morning" and the other would start snapping that it wasn't said in the right tone of voice. We would compete in the overworked stakes, constantly making lists of what we'd done each

Shonekan calls for more PPP on infrastructure development

By William Jimoh
Former Chairman of the Interim National Government (ING) Dr. Ernest Shonekan, has called for a deeper Public Private Partnership, PPP, to improve infrastructure development in the country

He described  it as an effort that will increase private investment while solving unemployment problem in Nigeria.
Shonekan stated this while delivering a keynote address at the 2nd edition of the Nigeria Leadership Summit held in Lagos.
He noted the alarming state of infrastructure development in the country, saying this has negatively affected cost of doing business in Nigeria, which has also reduced the strength of new and existing entrepreneurs to fast track the development of the county.

According to him, “Infrastructure is a big challenge to entrepreneurship in the country. The epileptic electric power supply and poor public supply of treated water means that entrepreneurs investing in the manufacturing sector must also bear additional cost of having their own standby electric power supply and bore holes. Such additional expenses often make locally ‘made products uncompetitive with their imported versions.
“Nigeria is a land of opportunities waiting for entrepreneurs to unlock them. Apart from the usual oil and gas sector, there are lots of untapped business opportunities in the agro-allied sector, solid minerals, entertainment industry, technology, telecom sector and a host of others where the country has comparative advantage.

Speaking further, Shonekan said “At the same time, the government and the private sector would need to partner more than before to improve the conditions of the existing infrastructure in the country. In particular, the government should give more opportunity for private sector involvement in the development of infrastructure particularly roads, rail lines, ports development and electric power plants, among other critical infrastructure.
He added that, “In particular, both the government and all stakeholders concerned must team up to ensure that corruption is wiped out in the country. Investors shun countries where there is corruption more so because it increases the cost of doing business and also truncates the laws for doing business.”

“Also, all hands must be on the deck to increase employment opportunities in the country and improve the quality of life of the people. Again, by involving the private sector in the development of the economy, more jobs will be created and there will be improvement in the standard of living of the people,” he urged. “The recent privatization in the electric power sector is bound to improve and stabilize power supply across the country and also encourage more entrepreneurs to invest in the sector.

“This is because government alone does not have all the resources needed for the development of the economy. A~ the same time, the private sector can· pull more resources together than the government for investment in the economy” Shonekan noted .

How Nelson Mandela will be buried

Nelson Mandela's body will be flown today from an air force base in Pretoria to South Africa's Eastern Cape province, where Mandela's ancestral village of Qunu lies. The family farm there will be his final resting place. Members of South Africa's ruling party, the African National Congress, will bid Mandela farewell from the air force base. An honor guard from the South African National Defence Force will then take charge of his casket, which will be draped in the national flag. On arrival at Mthatha Airport, the closest to Qunu, the casket will be placed on a gun carriage, while the national anthem is played and the honor guard presents arms and salutes. Mandela's family will follow the carriage in cars. Once at Mandela's house in Qunu, the military will formally pass responsibility for his remains to his family. The South African flag draped over the coffin will be replaced with a traditional blanket of the Xhosa people, symbolizing the return of one of their own. At dusk, ANC leaders, local chiefs and the men in Mandela's family are expected to gather for a private night vigil, held according to the traditions of the Thembu community, his native clan, before a public funeral the next day. Villagers may gather outside the house to pay their respects. Foreign leaders were encouraged to attend Tuesday's memorial service in Johannesburg. Nonetheless, dozens of international dignitaries are expected to make their way to the Eastern Cape for Mandela's funeral. Notable figures thought to be on the guest list include former U.S. President Bill Clinton and his family; Britain's Prince Charles and TV talk-show host Oprah Winfrey. More than 4,000 journalists had been accredited as of yesterday morning, with more expected, a government spokeswoman said. However, only the national broadcaster will be given access to the funeral, with other journalists in Qunu to be based at the NelsonMandelaMuseum. A private family prayer service will be held Sunday morning at Mandela's home. The funeral will then be held in a large white tent at the family farm. The Mandela family, South African President Jacob Zuma and Cabinet members will be present as well as local and foreign dignitaries. About 4,500 people are expected. The military will again be charged with draping Mandela's coffin with the flag. Members of the military will perform a salute, and the national anthem will be played. A group of family and close friends, expected to number about 430, will walk up to the grave site to bid a final farewell to the man many saw as the father of their nation. About 2 p.m. — when the summer sun is high in the sky — Mandela will be laid to rest in the rocky soil of his homeland. The burial area has been especially built for him; some of Mandela's long deceased family members are already buried at the site. It will be, according to custom, a homecoming. His grave site is surrounded by rocky outcrops, hardy grass used for the grazing of cattle and bright orange aloe plants. With so many high-profile guests in South Africa for Mandela's state funeral, security has been a key concern. Zuma has authorized nearly 12,000 members of the South African National Defence Force to serve alongside the police force "to maintain law and order" during the funeral period, the presidency said. They are employed for 15 days, from December 6 to December 20. A tight military cordon is expected around the funeral site to assuage security fears

Remember their fragrance Unbreakable by Khloe and Lamar? Guess they are breakable after all. Sad to see these two end their marriage. Khloe is reportedly now secretly dating Rihanna's ex, Matt Kemp

Lawyer, passenger found dead in car with engine running in Asaba

According to a report by Eagle Online, a lawyer and another man were found dead in a Toyota Camry car with registration number FGG 931 AE, at the popular Inter-Bau round-about in Asaba Delta State yesterday Thursday December 12th.

The lawyer and the passenger were said to be returning from a court session when they suddenly started foaming in the mouth and nose in the air-conditioned car. They were dead within minutes according to eye witnesses.

Explaining the mystery behind the deaths, a source said he believes the men were poisoned.

“They must have inhaled a   poisonous substance thrown into their car from where they were coming from. If not, how would they have died inside the car they were riding in?”

The identity of the lawyer and the passenger, believed to be a bricklayer, have not been confirmed. Their bodies have been deposited at the Federal Medical Center, in Asaba.
